"What art offers is space - a certain breathing room for the spirit." - John Updike

Handcrafted Jewelry

I'm featuring Sterling Silver filigree work that is entirely handmade and based on traditional Norwegian-style techniques and designs. To create the filigree I begin with round Sterling
Silver wire and twist, hammer, shape and otherwise fold, spindle and mutilate it into
something beautiful.

This exquisite, lacy metal technique can be traced back 5000 years. It is one of the oldest
and most beautiful of art forms developed by man. To learn more about the history of this
beautiful art form, click here or on Filigree History above.

I also like to explore other techniques and materials, pieces reflecting this are included on the
metal and wirework page. These pieces reflect select testile techniques applied to metals.

I feel that the intrinsic value of a handcrafted piece reflects what the artist puts into it,
more than the materials it's made of. I hope that my creations will "speak" to the wearer.

My work is also available in my Etsy shop: www.underthewire.etsy.com

I have coordinated cutom orders of handcrafted individual pieces and sets for
special occasions such as weddings and anniversaries.
